players, you will find that there is a colorful yet variety of historical
accounts about craps and how craps came about to the world where we are

Craps was once a game called Hazard that is found back in history in
the Middle Ages. The rules of the game were established by Montmort in
the years of the 1700’s. While even earlier accounts of craps are
disputed, the lines are seen dating back to both the English and the French.

Back into the Middle Ages, Arabs were known to use little blocks with
numbers on them to entertain themselves. The little blocks were called
azzahr, and as the use of these little blocks spread to France and England
the name of the block was changed to Hasard and then to Crabs, which all
took place somewhere back in the 1500’s. From 1700 and on as the
world grew the name crabs changed over to crapes and then to craps.

Tales of craps back to the times of the Holy Roman Empire, and the soldiers
of the Roman Legions are also seen in historical times where craps was
a game introduced to keep the soldiers occupied when not on duty. It is
said that they would use pig knuckles and toss them about in their heavy
metal shields. One saying in craps, roll the bones, is thought to have
originated through this historical time.

One man named Mandeville, changed the world of gambling and Hazard when
he changed the rules of the game to create craps. Craps was played on the
boat casinos, in casinos across the land and country. Because there were
still problems with cheats and the game of craps, another man Winn, developed
the game of craps even further, allowing for additional bets, which moved
more money about.
