How to Play Craps

Craps is often considered one of the most exciting games in any casino. The table is hot, you‘ll be able to hear it as you get the hang of things and you are being cheered on when playing in the casinos.

Craps can, however be considered a very complicated game, as there are many different ways to wager. However, to get started, there are some very simple bets that you can make. This way, you will learn as you go, and you will still be able to work with some favorable odds.

The most basic bet is placed on the "Pass Line" before the shooter rolls the dice. If the shooter rolls 7 or 11, you and the shooter win, and the shooter keeps the dice to roll again. If the shooter hits 2, 3, or 12, the bet is lost but he remains the shooter and continues to roll the dice until he either makes his point and you both win, or he rolls a 7 and the bet is lost.

If the above circumstances occur, you have bet with the shooter. If you want to bet against him, you place your bet on the "Don't Pass" line and the rules are entirely reversed except that if, on his first roll, the shooter rolls 12, it is a standoff (you neither win nor lose).

After the roll has begun and the shooter has a point, you can make a bet by placing it on the "come" line. The same rules apply to you as if the shooter were making a first roll: it the next roll is 7 you win; if it is a 2, 3, or 12, you lose; if it is any other number, that becomes your "come point" and, for you to win, it must be rolled again before a 7. If a 7 comes first, the bet is lost.

Beginners usually start with a "pass" line bet and then, as they become more confident, a "come" bet is a natural second step. Do not worry about making an error. The dealers will be happy to explain more about the game to you.

What is a field roll or field bet?

This is when you are betting that you will roll a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 and that this is going to be rolled before the 5, 6, 7 or 8 The 2 and 12 pay double what you bet. This is also a one-roll bet, no second chances. The dealer will take your money if the dice show a number that is not in the field (5, 6, 7 or 8) meaning you lost.

What is a Big 6 or a Big 8?

You can make bets on every roll, and when you get these number before a 7 comes then you win!

What is a horn bet?

A horn bet is also sometimes called a horn high bet. This is when you bet on the next numbers that may come up, a combination of 2,3,11,12.

What is a hard way bet?

You place a bet on a certain number, and if the number comes up exactly as you have bet then you win. You lose if the number comes up any other way or if a seven comes out. For example you bet hard six, the dice must read three and three for you to win, but if a four and two come out then you lose, a seven and you lose. Your hard bet on any number will remain on the table until your number comes up or the seven comes out so you have great odds in winning on this bet!

What is a bet on any craps?

You can bet this bet on any roll. If a 2, 3 or 12 rolls, then you will win. You are paid seven times the amount of your bet so if you bet five dollars you will have thirty-five! If any other number is rolled, you lose your money.

What is Horn bet or a Horn High Bet?

A Horn bet is a combination of all four numbers, 2, 3, 11, or 12. A Horn High Bet is a wager that has an extra amount on one of the four numbers. For example, a $10 Horn High Twelve means that two dollars each is upon three of the numbers with $4 on the twelve. These types of bets also include hard way bets, any Craps and bets on the 11.
